Building a house in Rust is a task that many consider paramount to survival. It is important not only to survive the first night, but also to put effort into creating a strong shelter, where protection is provided by several locks. An elaborate shelter will ensure safety for a long time, making life difficult for anyone who decides to attack your hideout.

Where to start?

First things first, make sure your hero doesn't starve or freeze. Walking through the forest or along the river, collect mushrooms, pumpkins, corn and hemp to create the necessary clothing. Don't forget to stock up on enough food. The work will be long: start by getting wood and stone, you need about 300 wood and 250 stones to get on the path of building your first shelter. These will be needed to make a stone pickaxe and a stone axe to facilitate our resource gathering task.

Resource Extraction

In total, we will need about ten thousand wood and the same amount of stones. We walk around and pound them everywhere. Stones are most abundant on cliffs and rock formations. Trees are not difficult to find. In the desert, you can chop palm trees.

Once we have all the resources we need, we create a building plan, craft c and build a two by two foundation.

Envelope our house with walls, leaving a passage. This is done with the help of the construction plan. Take it in your hands and hold the right mouse button. So you will open the menu and see all the elements available for construction. There will be a floor, foundation, and so on. We make a doorway and walls. Then we take a mallet in our hands, approach each wall, foundation, everything that we have built in turn. Press the right mouse button and hold it down. We see the menu of building improvement. Upgrade everything to stone. Also be sure to craft a door and, for starters, a wooden lock.

Useful tips

• For extra security in Rust, you can create a small stash near your house and place spare keys in it. The process is simple: dig a hole, then press and hold "E" to activate the "hide" option. To retrieve the keys later, all you have to do is step on the stash.
• Over time, improve the house to high quality metal or metal fragments.
• Use triangular foundations when building your house to create confusing and non-obvious paths. Install lots of partitions and doors inside to make it harder for potential attackers. The more barriers, the less likely your enemies are to have enough resources for a successful raid.
