IEM Katowice is one of the most famous and favorite cybersport tournaments in Counter Strike 2. The best teams in the world play at it, and only one becomes the best. To the surprise of many, the victory was taken by a team that few people believed in, and they did it quite confidently. I propose to break down their success in a little more detail, and understand how the team dramatically became one of the leading organizations in Counter Strike 2.
Unlike their Dota 2 counterparts, Team Spirit players from CS2 couldn't find their game for a long time, and performed very mediocre in many competitions. This lasted all of last year, and they never really got any good results. All of this lasted until the recent roster changes. Some players have left the roster and new players have come in to replace them.
The Dragons were well prepared for this tournament and rolled over all the enemy teams, losing only one map to NAVI. In the finals Spirit played against FAZE, who were one of the favorites of the tournament. But that didn't stop them from shutting them down with a score of 3:0, and taking one of the most prestigious tournaments to their piggy bank.
The player under the nickname "Donk" distinguished himself especially in his team. He won the MVP award, surpassed all players in KDA, and became the best player in the history of KATOWICE. The team also broke into third place in the HLTV rankings, and that makes them one of the favorites. I think they won't stop at one tournament, and will definitely put up a fight against all the contenders.
